What do I do with my ring at the gym?
The question "what do I do with my ring at the gym?" can cause brides-to-be a lot of stress. Do I leave it in my locker? Do I wear it while I work out? Do I leave it at home? If I leave it at home, does that mean I can’t show it off all day at work?

Most of the time a b2b doesn’t think about these all important, ring protecting questions until they go for their first post-engagement work out. They've changed into their yoga gear, filled their water bottle and are about to close up their locker when it hits them. So what then?
If you've totally forgotten – you're kind of stuck wearing it in my opinion. I avoid leaving my ring in the locker at all costs. I've heard too many horror stories about rings going missing from gym lockers and spa lockers. I don't have the perfect solution, but maybe some of these tips will help.
- If you're going on a cardio machine - just wear it. It might need some extra tlc and cleaning when you get home, but generally, no harm done.
- If you are lifting weights, it must come off. You could put it on a necklace you are wearing to keep it safe and keep it on your person. Otherwise, skip weights that day and do cardio ;) See above.
- If you're doing yoga, try the necklace trick and then tuck it into your shirt and/or bra strap to avoid it swinging about in downward dog! Or just wear it normally if that doesn't bother you.
- If you feel you absolutely must leave it in your locker – please don't put it on the shelf or near your other valuables. Someone breaking into your locker will first go for your wallet/purse, and then any other expensive items that can be sold or worn like fancy shoes, jeans or coats. My suggestion? Leave it in one of your socks! No right-minded petty thief is going to steal your stinky socks. And, you won't forget it on the shelf or hook in the locker. Just don't leave your socks in your expensive shoes or purse!
At the spa, the same rules apply. Just wear your ring to your treatment. They'll let you know if you must take it off. When they do, just be clear on where they are putting it for the duration of your treatment. At least then, if your ring goes missing you can pinpoint the thief to someone in the room with you and not a random patron or staff member. This is especially important when the lockers use keypad entry systems rather than physical locks.
Lastly, make sure your ring is insured. Check with your insurance agency whether the cost of your ring is included in your home insurance, or whether you need a separate policy. If anything bad should happen, at least you can replace your treasure.
