No longer reserved for the daring fashionista, feathers have become a welcome accessory for the every-girl wanting to dress up her look. And who can argue? It adds a soft and feminine elegance to nearly everything it touches. A wedding is the perfect setting to play up the look with feathers, and with their versatility in texture and colour, they can fit into almost any theme and bridal palette. Here's a few ideas on how to incorporate feathers into your big day:

Hair

Hair fasteners are the easiest way to up your elegance factor, and pay a little homage to the glamour of the 1930's.

Flowers

Add some oomph to your flowers. Ostrich feathers make very grand centerpieces, and peacock and pheasant feathers work beautifully within flower arrangements, giving your bouquet a little something extra.

Don't go Overboard!

With any trend, things can easily go astray, and your well-dressed wedding could look a little kitschy. When dealing with any natural element (branches, stones, feathers, etc.), natural colours & jewel tones such as whites, blues, purples, greens and blacks, are best. Avoid bright primary colours like red or pink or yellow, as they can turn your theme from tasteful to tacky.
