Everything was falling into place with our decorator and florist, so I decided it was time for my shopping. My search for the perfect dress started out casually in my hometown.
The Wedding Dress Search: Part 1
I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, a simple dress with shoulder straps and no pick-up. I began by trying on only this style of gown and I disliked all of them. To me these dresses felt like any formal dress, not the way I imaged my wedding gown would feel.

We've got some very special photos for you today thanks to Melissa from Wedding Obsession! These inspiring images are borrowed from Melissa's post about Vera Wang's structurally refreshing Spring 2011 collection!
We're huge fans of Vera's designs, as are the many brides-to-be who salivate over her incredible collections. Her dresses are always stunning, but we really love the new direction she's taking for Spring 2011.
Vera has showed us that asymetry can be eye-catching, yet soft as she's added swaths of draped fabric to create elements reminding us of things found in nature. In the dresses below we see gowns shaped like whisps of smoke, large and small three-dimensional florals, the texture and shape of water polished stones, and a dress that reminds us of snow covered mountains. Gorgeous and intelligent!

Jan 8th, Oprah revealed a handful of famous celebrity designers who have created low-priced lines for various stores. Sarah Jessica Parker started "Bitten", her line of all American Women’s fashions for Steve & Barry's stores.
Isaac Mizrahi has created a line of wedding dresses for Target ranging in price from $89.99 to $159.99 USD. In addition to wedding dresses, there are tons of accessories including: veils and headpieces, gloves, wraps and sashes, bridal intimates and sleepwear, wedding jewelry, shoes, and handbags. And, of course, there is a line for bridesmaids.
After seeing the show, I was totally dumbfounded over the prices.
