As a kid, my countdown to Christmas always relied on an advent calendar. I guess you can call me a chocoholic, but I can’t think of a better way to start the day!
On December 23, 2008 my advent calendar had a little more than chocolate inside. Before heading out of town to spend the holidays with family, my now fiancé proposed to me by replacing a chocolate in the advent calendar with a ring. Needless to say, I was ecstatic!
After saying yes (obviously) the only other question I had was...What happened to that chocolate?

When deciding on flowers for my wedding, I started with a simple online search. I knew that I wanted calla lilies as the focal point for the arrangements, so I searched for photos of bouquets to use as a source of inspiration.
The colours for my wedding are white and sage green, so I planned to have a calla bouquet with green accents and simple, single callas for my bridesmaids.
I also took photos of floral arrangements at weddings that I had recently attended. I lucked out and happened to be a guest at a wedding that had calla lily bouquets with a green colour scheme! At this wedding I borrowed the bride’s and bridesmaids’ bouquets, shameless I know, but I was able to get some great shots!

Once my fiancé and I set a date, I was on the search for a venue. My fiancé and I chose my hometown for our wedding since it was most convenient for all of our guests and it meant a lot to me to be married in my childhood church.
Since our wedding is taking place in a small town, the venue options are quite limited – making the search for a venue a lot easier!
There are about three venue options in my home town including the hall I chose, a hotel, and a golf course. I ruled out the golf course quickly since it is outside of the city and we wanted to make our wedding location convenient for as many of our guests as possible.

Ahhh, the classic conundrum (chicken or the egg?). Do you select your wedding date first and then your venue? Or do you pick the venue and then the date based on the venue’s availability? Here are some tips on how to go about this tricky process:

When the DATE comes first
If you are absolutely set on a certain wedding date, because you love the way it sounds (10/10/10 or 09/10/11 for example), or because it has special meaning to you and your fiancé (anniversary of first date/your parents’ wedding date or whatnot), then YAY, that is half the battle. You can call around to all the various venues and check their availability on your chosen date.
If you don’t have a specific date in mind, but more so a general season or preferred month, then the VENUE comes first. Take the following factors into consideration:
