Michelle Obama Jason Wu Inaugural Gown

Michelle Obama unveiled (pun intended) her white chiffon one-shoulder gown by Jason Wu at the first of 10 inauguration parties they atteneded last night. Is it just us, or did it kind of look like a wedding dress? (Also check out Michelle's champagne-colored State Dinner gown by Indian American designer Naeem Khan)

Although white is the traditional colour worn by the first lady, some thought Michelle Obama might have put a colourful spin on her gown.

Fashion personality and stylist Robert Verdi commented " Nancy Reagan wore a one-shouldered Galanos, Laura Bush wore white and of course, Jackie Kennedy wore it. Wearing white is the historic route and I thought she'd do something different." Apparently Verdi wasn't thrilled with the style either. "I was expecting a different silhouette like a halter. It's an inauguration, not a prom."

Others, including Oprah magazine creative director Adam Glassman raved about her choice.
