It all depends on whom you talk to. One thing is for certain: the trends of the wedding season change from city street to city street! Wedding trends come out in the luxurious fabrics, gorgeous wrapped favors, ribbon ties, sashes on dresses, and the tableware available locally to brides.

Wedding Advice: Opinion Management

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has an opinion on my big day! How can I politely tell them to butt out?

There is no polite way to tell someone that their ideas, opinions, or advice just don't apply to you. Instead of telling the Know-It-Alls to butt out, be gracious and tactful in your dealings with them.

Throughout your engagement you'll be faced with every type of advice giver including; vendors whose advice and opinions you solicit, married friends and family who freely give advice (thinking they're being helpful) even if you didn’t ask them for it, and smug singles who think they’re smarter because of their "choice" to not be married.

Wedding Advice: Is it possible to find a meal that meets everyone's needs?

Dietary Restrictions

One of the very first questions that I ask couples regarding catering and food is, "are there any dietary restrictions we should be aware of?" These restrictions can play a big part in the meal you choose to serve your guests. If you live with dietary restrictions due to allergies, medical conditions, or personal dietary choices, your wedding day is NOT the day to "forget about it".

First, what is the restriction? Simple things like vegetarianism or low salt diets are easy to accommodate with any typical wedding menu. Medical conditions like celiac disease, diabetes, and serious allergies to shellfish and peanuts for example, require a little more management to ensure guest safety. The first step is to be open and honest about these restrictions with your planner and caterer to ensure they can make adjustments as necessary.

Wedding Advice: Preferred Vendor Lists - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Everyone loves to see their name in lights and when another vendor or person admires our work enough to refer us to potential clients we can't help but be flattered!

Whether you refer to them as preferred vendors, VIP vendors, or approved vendors; they’re all vendors that show up on referral lists within a specific region or city.

As a bridal couple you will visit venues, caterers, florists, and photographers, and these are just a few examples of the hundreds of different vendors you may visit during your planning process.

How much weight do you give to preferred vendor referrals you’ve found on lists?
