So That's How She Did It! The $6000 Wedding
25-year-old Tavon Ferguson planned her dream wedding for just under $6,000. She's the ultimate frugal bride who used the internet, and her network of friends and family to get more for less.
Let's break it down:
- She bought her dress (new with tags) from another local bride for $200. Original price at David's was $600.
- She found her shoes on CutseyGirl.com for $29. However, we've scouted it out, and there are pairs anywhere from $9.99 and up. The Satin Pumps below are $18.99. You can search by colour and size. Look for your bridesmaids at the same time in order to make the 16USD for shipping to Canada worth your while.
- Tavon rented a fake tiered cake with a small portion of the bottom layer made out of real cake for cutting. Guests were served from a sheet cake. $200
- Her DIY projects included invitations (try Micheals, even Staples has plain invitation kits ready for accessorizing) and her Bouquet. She purchased the flowers for her bouquets at Costco.
- For her Bridesmaids, Tavon ordered her dresses online and on sale. She also received free shipping. She bought each Bridesmaid an engraved silver bracelet for $8 on Weddingchannelstore.com.
- Her husband's titanium wedding band was purchased for $40 on ebay.

Tavon also asked her network of family and friends for help. A friend and makeup artist, did her wedding day makeup for free as her gift to the bride and groom. Another friend did their photography. If you're going to go this route, DO confirm that your friends and family are qualified for the job. While it may seem like a great way to save money at the time, you'll regret your choice later if the results are not what you expected.
