Should I get a facial for my wedding?
We know that a lot of brides spend time wondering about skin care and facials leading up to the wedding. Should you or shouldn’t you? We’ve taken the most popular questions we’ve received from smart brides out there and put them to Natalie Kellar, Spa Director at the amazing Ste. Anne’s Spa.

Here are her answers to your top 5 questions when it comes to skin care, facials and your wedding.
- What elements of a facial are best for Bride-to-Be’s? What elements do Brides want to avoid?
A good cleansing, gentle exfoliation and masque are great, but please, skip the extractions! Extractions can be hard on the skin and can potentially cause redness or scarring which you definitely want to avoid before your wedding.
The main things a bride wants to avoid are abrasive scrubs such as apricot scrubs with sharp granules. Instead, a liquid exfoliant that uses fruit acids to gently dissolve dead skin cells, such as Aveda's Exfoliant, are great. - If a bride has never had a facial before, should she get one before her wedding?
It is completely fine to have a gentle facial before your wedding, as long as it doesn’t use any abrasive scrubs or extractions (as mentioned above). A facial will help to remove any dry flaky skin and provide a smooth base for your wedding day makeup. - How many weeks or months before the wedding should a Bride-to-Be have a facial?
I would recommend brides to get a few intense facials, such as Aveda's "Perfecting Plant Peel", once a month for 3-6 months before their wedding, with the last one be done about a week before in order to have a more flawless appearance for the wedding, but not too close to the wedding in case of skin sensitivity or reaction. - What skin care tips do you have for Bride-to-Be’s the week before and day before their weddings for that lovely new bride glow?
Stick with a skin care routine, this isn't the time to go to bed with your makeup on! Avoid any abrasive cleansers and let your skin breathe as much as possible.
Don't forget to keep your lips moisturized as well, nothing ruins a gorgeous make up application like dry flaky lips! Aveda Lip Saver is an excellent lip moisturizer and also contains an SPF of 15. - What lifestyle tips do you have for Bride-to-Be’s the week before and day before their weddings to help enhance the radiance that goes along with the big day?
I would recommend to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, plus limit salt intake as well as any high sodium foods because they can cause water retention and bloating.
Also, limit alcohol. Although I know it can be difficult with all the parties, at the very least try to have a glass of water after every alcoholic beverage to stay hydrated. And of course, try to get as much sleep as possible so you look refreshed for your big day! I know this is sometimes easier said than done, but it’s definitely something to strive for!
