Recreate Kim Kardashians Black and White Wedding without the 10 Million Dollar Price Tag

Kim Kardashian and her celebrity wedding planner, Sharon Sacks, pulled together an elegant affair almost entirely decorated with black and white. From her bridesmaids and guests to the cake, ceremony and reception decor, there was a noticeable lack of colour.

Although they may seem simple, black and white themes are not as easy to pull off as one might think. Careful planning goes into achieving a delicate balance so neither black or white takes control. Subtle additions of colour can enhance, or totally derail your theme if you're not careful, so use them sparingly. Kim integrated pops of greenery on her reception tables and moody lighting later in the night for an extra pop.

Here are three tips to recreating Kim Kardashian's lavish black and white wedding without breaking the bank. Also read how to replicate Kim Kardashian's makeup and get Kim Kardashian's ceremony dress for less!

1) DIY Bling:

Not only did Kim adorn herself with almost $15 Million in diamonds, she spared no expense decorating her reception with rows of white chandeliers dripping with crystals. If expensive light fixtures are not in your budget, why not try the DIY approach to bling?

Start shopping garage sales and antique shops for various mismatched candelabras. Once you've collected enough for each one of your tables, spray them all black (or white) and adorn with garlands of crystals. Complete with candles, you now have a table centrepiece and added soft lighting.

2) Layering and Textures:

Kim spent more than the average wedding budget on flowers alone, PLUS added over scale decor to fill her reception venue to the brim. You can do the same with a smaller budget by strategically using layering and varied textures to create the same rich and full effect.

Black and white may seem simple, but it's important to work closely with your wedding planner and linen/decor provider to the perfect balance of light and dark.

For the ceremony:
Covering chairs or decorating pews will go a long way to unifying the space in either white or black. Kim used both a white backdrop and a black and white aisle runner to complete here mostly white ceremony decor.

For the Reception:

Kim added in a heavy dose of black to her reception decor which was more noticeable as the lights went down.

Meet with your planner and test out different combinations for your table decor. Take a sample of your centre pieces and test out various table linens, chair covers, plates (Kim used black but they may not be readily available for rent in your area) napkins, menus/programs and favour boxes.

Most rental companies stock all items in white. To reduce costs, you may want to start with the items where using black over white increase the price, or simply can not be provided. Then layer on black items where you have more flexibility until you've balanced out the look.
