What began as a blind date, blossomed into romance for Rebecca Straus-Revenel and Ramsay Revenel. The decision for this couple to plan the green wedding of their dreams seemed like a no-brainer as both keep eco-consciousness close to their hearts in both their personal and professional lives.
Here are Rebecca and Ramsay’s tips to keep your wedding local and seasonal:
Flowers
Rebecca and Ramsay used a local flower vendor who combined her own locally grown flowers with that of grandma’s garden. This cut costs from having to transport flowers from different parts of the country.
Food
The couple treated guests to local cuisine including fresh Maine lobster, salmon, and oysters. August Moon Catering fulfilled the couple’s request to keep it local by using locally grown and seasonal produce to create dishes using eggplant, zucchini, and lavender.

Drink
In keeping with the local tradition, Rebecca and Ramsay provided beer on tap from local Maine breweries.
Venue
Rebecca and Ramsay were married in Somesville, Maine in Rebecca’s grandmother’s garden. Plus, the ceremony and reception were located within walking distance of one another on the same property. This helped reduce the wedding’s carbon footprint by eliminating the need for guests to drive between the ceremony and reception.
