Hundreds for a bridesmaid dress? We're in a recession here!

We all know the feeling; it's so exciting to be chosen to be in someone's wedding. So exciting. Then it hits you: this is going to cost me a lot of money. So, you convince yourself it's worth it... regardless of what the dress even looks like.

Ladies, you don't have to feel like this! And brides, you don't have to worry about making your bridesmaids feel like this either! I wanted to share a few tips on how to be a little more efficient and thrifty in your bridesmaid dress search.

David's Bridal really is a great option.
I know there's a little bit of a stigma attached to David's Bridal; but come on, agree with me on this: they've made huge strides in recent times, and they actually do have some great stuff.

A little tip: if you're getting your dress there, your bridesmaids will get a deal on their dresses. This will knock their prices down by $20-30 on average. Not only that, but David's Bridal has some pieces at great prices to start with.

Who says you have to go to a bridal boutique for your bridesmaids?
Try your local department store. Seriously. You can typically find a wide variety of sizes in any given dress; and between sales and coupons, you'll be able to save. Additionally, these dresses aren't intended for weddings, which means they're not marked up an exorbitant amount like most other wedding-related items are.

Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses

Remember, mismatched is "in."
Go to the mall (or an outlet mall, even) with your bridesmaids. Let them each pick a dress of their choice. All you have to do is make sure that you like their dresses individually and all together, and that they fit well with your color scheme and theme. This could be a great way to get all your girls wearing dresses they love (at a price point they're comfortable with, because they chose the dress) and that they'll be comfortable in.

Honestly, choosing the bridesmaid dress shouldn't be stressful. As long as they make you happy, that's really what counts. At least with these tips, you know that you don't have to worry about asking your girls to pay an arm and a leg!

Nicole didn't think a thing about Mr. Man when they met. Not a thing. Two whole years later, he gathered up the courage to ask her out. She, completely disinterested, nervously accepted. After all, he was a nice enough guy. One date turned into several, and after being surprised at work one day (and getting some serious butterflies), Nicole knew she was in trouble. Almost five years later, they're finally tying the knot; throwing one hell of a party with one little caveat... they're only spending $10,000.
