Green Weddings: Finding A Green Honeymoon
Finally, you’ve reached the fun part of planning your wedding, the honeymoon! However, you've decided that it’s important to be eco-conscious and so you need some help finding the perfect green honeymoon.....I can help!
When looking for a green honeymoon you should research the hotels or resorts you're thinking of visiting and ask yourself the following 4 questions:
- Has the hotel or resort worked towards minimizing their environmental impact by making significant structural improvements and updating their practices?
- Does the property you'll be staying at emphasize environmental conservation?
- Do they consider the needs of local communities and promote fair trade?
- Do they promote knowledge and understanding of sustainability and ecological practices?
Always keep in mind that even by visiting an exotic place you will incur some environmental damage. One of the honeymoon's we like to recommend is a local honeymoon, or a romantic staycation!
Here’s how you go on a staycation:
After your wedding, you book yourselves into a hotel and get a local map. Choose to visit a different area of the city to explore each day of your honeymoon. Sample the food, music, and the culture of each neighbourhood. Take lots of pictures to document your adventure, who knows you may discover a new spot for you and your spouse to celebrate your wedding anniversary!
Keep in mind that by going green with any portion of your wedding, you're giving yourself the opportunity to do something unique that other couples aren’t necessarily doing.
