Thanks to Breakfast Television Toronto for having us on the show last Friday, February 20th! We had a great time, (even with getting up at 5:15am).

For this segment, we chose to focus on the various options available to a bride to be, no matter what your budget or style.

Vivian gets positioned on stage

Our first dress, modeled by Vivian, is a sample size 44 Dolce & Gabana evening gown style dress for a modern bride. Although retail was about $1,000, it’s being sold on smartbrideboutique.ca for $500. Spending $500 on a dress really gives you the opportunity to splurge on other things, like a pair of great earrings. We found these ones at Trove and the designs are something you can feel good about wearing again and again after your wedding.

Our second dress (on Danielle, left) was a wedding size 10 from a Beckers in house designer and although it sells for $1750 in store (and is still there!), you can get it for $800 on SmartBride Boutique. When you couple it with some pretty jewelery, like this $54 necklace from Trove, and a pair of inexpensive shoes for around $75, your entire look is completed for about $929!

Our last dress (on Kanata, center) was for someone who really wants to feel like a princess on her big day. Kanata was wearing a beautiful wedding size 12 couture dress from Anne Barge, with Italian silk, French lace and Swarovski crystal detailing. This dress typically retails for $4200 and is on the SmartBride site for $1500 and provides an example of a bride deciding to splurge on her dress, but who is now looking to sell it to another local bride to recoup some of her costs after the big day, and help someone else to feel special.

There are also some BIG THANK YOUS we need to extend to all of the lovely and talented people and businesses for helping us out (and getting up so early in the morning):

  • Beautymarkz - Victoria, Melisa and Vivian did a fabulous job on our hair and makeup to help us set off the dresses and look our best!

  • Red Earth Cosmetics - Provided us with the actual makeup to help use look beautiful (and awake!)

  • Trove - Carolyn and Erin at Trove graciously donated the jewelery our models wore, showing off the options available if you want to splurge on jewels, or if you want to spend wisely.

  • Vivian, Danielle and Kanata - Thank you for getting up early, modeling your own gowns and looking fantastic in the process. Special props to Kanata who came all the way from Hamilton!
