SmartBride Boutique surveyed over 500 Canadian women on the subject of wedding budgets and the concept of buying and selling once used wedding dresses, accessories and decorations. Here's what they had to say on the matter!
76% of Canadian women we surveyed feel that today’s brides are pressured to have extravagant weddings beyond their financial means.

51% of Canadian Women estimated that the average Canadian couple spends over $20,000 on their wedding. In total, 88% of those women estimated the average to be over $10,000.

52% of respondents thought the average Canadian Bride would spend between $1,000 and $1,499 on her wedding dress.
26% estimated the average bride would spend over $1,500 on her dress alone.

75% of Canadian women we surveyed were interested in buying a once worn wedding dress for various reasons including financial and environmental (provided they would not have to sacrifice on fit and style).
81% of our respondents said they would consider selling their dress after their wedding to recoup costs and help another local bride save on their wedding day.
An overwhelming 87% of all the women we surveyed would buy decorations and accessories used in a previous wedding.
And 88% of those same women would consider selling their decorations and accessories after the wedding.
Even 64% of women who said they would never buy or wear a used dress, would consider buying used wedding accessories such as jewelry, veil, purse shoes or decorations. Of those same women, 75% would consider selling their new accessories after their wedding.
